You’re ready to take a step towards being photographed, and you want to create gorgeous portraits of yourself for you and your loved ones.
You have some ideas, but you’re lost about where to start, here’s an outline that will help you begin:
What is the aim of your photoshoot?
Are you celebrating something specific? Who will you be photographed with? What do you want to say with your images? Let’s start with a Pinterest board, create what I would call a mood board. Without too much overthinking gather ideas, create a dream photo shoot board, keep it secret if you prefer. Pinterest is undoubtedly my favourite social media. I use Pinterest a lot as a tool for inspiration, creating ideas for personal, editorial photo shoot and working with clients on every personal branding and portrait shoot.
Choose a theme for the shoot
By setting a theme and a mood (i.e glam, contemporary, rock chic…) for the photo shoot, you will be able to limit your focus, and it will help you define a style, find the right location, choose a mood and a colour theme.
Set a style
Create a vision
Before Pinterest, to create a mood board, you would tear pages from magazines and pin them to a wall. The principle of Pinterest is the same you will choose images that fit your ideas. Select photos from your searches for a location, clothing, colour themes, props, accessories, designers, movies, this will indeed help me or your photographer to understand how you want to be photographed.
Add a bit of Parisian Chic in your photoshoot
Be clear about what you want, don't hold up
Sharing a board will be, but nothing will help more than having a conversation with me to make sure we have the same things in mind. From this conversation, I will be able to write down a schedule and a scenario for your shot. This conversation will help us fine tune, decide on location it might be in the studio or a great venue, working out what you are going to wear, involving the make-up artist and the option of bringing a stylist on board.
All the work will be done upfront so all you have to do is relax on the day of the shoot and you will have portraits that speak about who you are and are unique to you!
